The fine lines, creases, or folds in our skin are called wrinkles. Mostly caused with growing age, because the skin starts to lose its moisture and elasticity. Too much exposure to the sun, dehydration, poor diet, excessive cosmetics, and face movements like squinting, smiling, frowning are major causes of getting wrinkles. We bought you some home remedies to slow down wrinkles occurrence and treat them naturally.

Home Remedies:

Aloe vera: Due to its anti-aging properties aloe vera is a natural treatment for wrinkles. It helps in improvement of skin elasticity and support collagen production. Apply fresh gel from plant directly (or mix with honey) to your skin and wash with cold water after 15 minutes. Do this 3 to 4 times a week.

Banana mask: Bananas contain natural oils and antioxidants that brighten the skin and reduce wrinkles. Mash a banana and apply it to your skin. Also rubbing a banana peel on your skin helps to reduce fine lines and black spots, in addition, keeps your skin hydrated.

Essential Oil: Applying small amounts of essential oils mixed with a carrier oil may help you to reduce wrinkles and nourish the skin. These oils increase the production of elastin and collagen in your skin. Give a shot to argan oil, carrot seed oil, clary sage oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, lavender oil, neroli oil, rosemary oil, sandalwood oil. Always perform a patch test beforehand.

Massage: A daily facial and body massage for 3 to 5 minutes can do wonders to the skin. It promotes blood flow and oxygen in skin therefore prevent wrinkles by increasing skin proteins and collagen. You can use any oil like coconut oil, argon oil, castor oil or jojoba oil.

Coconut oil: The age-old remedy for all skin problems is coconut oil. It provides skin with the required moisture and elasticity also suitable for all skin types. Massaging with coconut oil helps to get rid of aging signs. You can include it in your face packs or your diet.

Olive oil: Moisturising properties of olive oil acts as a barrier to wrinkle occurrence. It promotes skin hydration and cell regeneration. Consume or apply olive oil to increases skin’s firmness and elasticity.

Topical vitamin C: Vitamin C really works for uneven skin tone, rough texture, fine lines, acne scars, sun tan and general dullness. It is an antioxidant that helps create collagen in the skin. It is found naturally in many fruits and vegetables such as rosehips, chili, peppers, guava, kale, lime, broccoli, kiwi, amla and many more. Vitamin C is an immunity booster as well.

Minerals: Zinc and selenium are two minerals that are especially important for skin health and healing. Both minerals slow down skin aging and fight against cell damage. You can use a topical cream containing zinc and selenium or include them in your diet.
Zinc: oysters, beans, almonds, cashews, oatmeal, peas, cheese, baked beans
Selenium: sunflower seeds, yogurt, spinach, oatmeal, bananas, fish, egg

Egg whites: Egg white face masks promote youthful, hydrated, and wrinkle-free skin whereas the protein in them boosts the healing and growth of facial tissues. Adjust the frequency of usage according to how your skin reacts to the mask and don’t forget to moisturize after.

Probiotics and Yogurt: Probiotics are good bacteria which are very healthy for our gut as well as skin. Yogurt contains lactic acid that helps to fight against wrinkles and sun burn. Probiotics & yogurt develop healthier skin, shrink the pores, moisturizes and heals dry skin. Apply & massage yogurt on your face or mix it in your face pack with besan, tomatoes, honey etc.

Cucumber: Being a source of abundant water, vitamins and minerals, cucumbers help in getting rid of many skin problems. They keep your skin hydrated hence delay formation of fine lines. You can apply only cucumber juice to your skin or mix it with other ingredients such as yogurt, cinnamon powder and coconut oil.

Lemon and Honey: Honey preserves moisture in skin cells, while lemon boosts the production of collagen. This mixture leaves you feeling fresh and smelling great, with a soft and glowing skin. Massage for 5 minutes and leave for some time to seep in and then wash off.

Petroleum jelly: Vaseline itself won’t shrink your pores or treat wrinkles, but lock the moisturizer in, which is a preventative measure to slow aging signs.

Silk: Known for its smooth texture, silk won’t wrinkle or crease the skin. People who sleep on their stomachs, their face makes constant contact with the pillow throughout the night. Therefore sleeping on a silk pillowcase may help prevent fine lines over time due to the reduced friction.

Quick Tips:

Always apply sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun. Apply moisturizer regularly to help keep it hydrated. Avoid smoking & Alcohol, as they dry and wrinkle your skin. Remove your makeup before going to bed. Stick to a balanced diet, that is rich in fresh fruits and vegetables and low in processed foods. Include superfoods like avocadoes, chia seeds, cinnamon, egg whites, ginger, oatmeal, salmon, sweet potatoes, walnuts, blueberries, turmeric, tomatoes in your diet.
