Home remedies to treat Acne (pimples)!!

Acne (pimples) starts when the skin pores get clogged with oil, dirt, bacteria or dead skin cells. Diet, stress, hormone changes, infections or genetics can be the reasons for acne causing whiteheads, blackheads or pimples. This condition affects people of all ages but is most common among teenagers. Acne can occur on your face, forehead, chest, shoulders or upper back.
Here are some Home Remedies to treat Acne but if nothing seems to help consult a dermatologist.

Home Remedies

Gentle Cleaning: cleansing of skin pores is the first step to reduce the occurrence of pimples and acne. Through but gentle cleaning of skin to remove all dirt and bacteria helps to cure skin problems.
Massage honey on dampen skin and then wash off. Besan (chick peas flour) paste is also a very effective face wash.
Exfoliation: Clogged pores and dead skin contributes to acne, white & black heads. Scrub helps to get rid of extra build-up on skin and also cleanse the pores and also smoothens the skin. You can use home-based scrub like honey and sugar, sea salt or coffee. Gently rub the paste on your skin and wash off followed by a moisturizer.
Proper Moisturization: People with oily skin or acne still need to moisturize their skin. Skin will work harder to produce oil if it is not provided with sufficient which will worsen the acne condition. Cleanse your skin and hands and then apply moisture.
Spot Treatment: It imply focusing on the affected area. Tea tree oil, coconut oil, or honey can be used for spot treatment. These have antiseptic properties also fight bacteria & fungi.

Healing Masks: Masks can be really helpful in hydrating and healing acne.
Use yoghurt, honey, cinnamon, and aloe vera to soothe and fight the common cause of acne 2-3 times a week.

  • Honey Mask is hydrating and antibacterial. Clean your skin and leave honey for 20 minutes and then wash.
  • Honey & Cinnamon mask Anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of honey and cinnamon help to reduce acne. Make a paste of 2 tablespoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and apply to your skin.
  • Aloe Vera: This gel not only cools and soothes the skin but helps with acne. Scrape the gel from plant leaves and apply directly to your skin or mix with any face pack.
  • Cucumber Face Mask: Cucumber is hydrating and helps in reducing irritation, swelling, and pain from acne. Make a paste by grinding one cucumber and applying it. You can also mix some honey, aloe vera gel, oatmeal, or yoghurt.
  • Turmeric Facial Mask: Turmeric is anti-inflammatory & antimicrobial and is good for skin and health.
    Using Turmeric alone can leave a yellow tint on your skin so use it as one of the ingredients in the face pack. Mix chickpeas powder, and turmeric with a little olive oil, make a paste and apply to your skin.
  • Multani mitti: It (Fuller’s Earth) is known as a deep cleanser that helps in removing impurities and also tightens the skin. It prevents breakouts and cools the skin. Apply Multani mitti mixed with rose water and leave for 20 minutes.
  • Lemon juice, honey, and almond oil: Take one tablespoon of each ingredient and mix it with about two tablespoons of milk. Apply this mixture onto the pimples and watch them, poof, away. Do a patch test beforehand.
  • Yogurt Masks, Papaya masks, and Oats masks are some homemade masks that can be effective in preventing and curing acne.


Coconut oil helps kill acne-causing bacteria and reduces the redness and swelling of pimples. Coconut oil also speeds up healing in open acne sores.
Green Tea: green tea extract to the skin significantly reduces sebum production hence pimples or acne. Boil Green tea, let it cool and apply it to your skin with cotton or rinse.
Rosewater: Use rose water as a toner or cleanser, it will calm the skin and reduces the size of pimples.
Apple cider vinegar: use diluted apple cider vinegar for acne and spot reduction.
Essential oils: Use essential oil (lavender oil, rosehip seed oil, carrot seed oil, jojoba oil) to reduce acne scars depending on your skin type. Perform a patch test.

Apply a Paste of Crushed Aspirin to the Pimple or Sea salt paste to pimple for overnight results.
